James Patrick Reid paints in his studio in Bushwick and has had solo exhibitions at the Art Lab Gallery on Staten Island, the Cohen Gallery in the Goggleworks Arts Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, the Viterbo College Art Gallery in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Mongeon Gallery in Portland Oregon, the Exhibit A Gallery in Savannah, Georgia, and the Stony Brook School in Stony Brook, New York. He has participated in group exhibitions at the Bowery Gallery, the First Street Gallery, the Salander O'Reilly Gallery, the Frederieke Taylor Gallery, the Prince Street Gallery, the Art Students League, the New York Academy of Art and the Museum at FIT, all in New York City; the New Jersey Center for the Visual Arts, and the Bayly Art Museum in Charlottesville, Virginia. Reid studied at The New York Studio School and earned an MFA at Indiana University.
Besides painting, Reid loves to teach and lecture about art, and besides teaching at the Art Lab has served on the Fine Arts faculty at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, the Art Sudents League, and the New York Academy of Art. He has lectured numerous times at Parsons School of Design, the New York Studio School, and at art schools and universities around the country.
