Ceramic Techniques Fall 23 /Wed

Ceramic Techniques will focus on teaching the basics of sculpting with handbuilding techniques such as slabs, coils, pinch pots, and molding. You will also learn how to use a combination of those various techniques and how to attach pieces by scoring and slipping the pieces. We’ll cover everything you need to know about sculpting, wedging clay, working with tools, glazing vs. underglazing, and how to finish your piece. Come into class with your own ideas of things you would like to sculpt, or try out some of the suggested projects that we will provide for you.

This class is great for both those who are looking for an introduction to handbuilding and for those who are more experienced and looking to improve their skills or just have studio time to work on ceramic projects.

This class meets once a week for 10 9 weeks. *This class will not meet the week of Thanksgiving*

Materials: Tools are provided, but you will need your own block of clay which you can buy at Art Lab for $24.46 on your first day of class.
