Exploring with Watercolor

Open for beginners and for those that already have an established watercolor art practice. Come with some ideas of how or what you like to paint, whether it be pure abstraction, imagined realism, works from life, or a combination. Different approaches will be discussed, and techniques demonstrated, glazing, color washes, dry brush, color mixing, and color relationships to name a few. Compositional options will be explored depending on the vision, and strengths of each student. The Watercolor medium requires experimentation and discovery. Each student will find their own unique process towards an end result in image making with this beautiful medium.
Supply List:
Paint: a watercolor set of tubes, dry watercolor, or if preferred, gouache: including cadmium yellow, cadmium red, and a variety of blues such as Cobalt, Cerulean, French Ultra Marine, and/or Phthalo blue, greens – Veridian for a cool green, ochres, browns, Alizarine , black, and white.
Brushes: a variety of sizes, large and small rounds and a variety of flats-or your preference.
Paper: a pad of Watercolor paper or mixed media paper the size you like to work. The mixed media paper has a smooth surface as opposed to the Watercolor paper which is heavier (stronger) and has a slight tooth or bumpy surface.
Other supplies: a watercolor palette for mixing colors and masking tape.
