Linda Butti

Linda Butti is an artist who has been making art and teaching art for over thirty years. She has had solo art shows all over the metropolitan area and has exhibited in group shows nationally and internationally. Currently, she is an adjunct full professor at St John’s University and City University of NY teaching art history and studio courses.

“I started traveling in 1970, during the summer when I was in college. “Europe on 5 dollars a day” was a popular book! Though I do not consider myself an avid traveler, over the years, I have traveled back and forth to Europe, visited Asia, Egypt, and most of the United States. I especially like to visit the artistic sites that are featured in the art history classes that I teach. It helps bring a sense of excitement and enthusiasm to the lectures! My art is inspired by the sites I see when I am traveling, but my immediate environment also inspires me. I live in Staten Island and East Hampton, New York; both are abundant with beautiful woods, parks, and waters, complete with beautiful lighting. Nature imagery provides the vehicle to explore the formal and intuitive elements that consume my work.” – Linda Butti
