Vince Serecin
Bio:
Vince Serecin is a multidisciplinary artist whose work centers on collage as a daily practice, alongside painting as an ongoing and essential counterpart. His work explores connection—between memory and material, past and present, usefulness and beauty—often drawing from found and discarded elements to uncover quiet, overlooked narratives.
With a background that includes book arts, book sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media, Vince approaches collage as both a formal discipline and an intuitive process. Since establishing a studio practice, collage has become a near-daily activity, while one or two paintings are always in progress on the easel, allowing the two mediums to inform and challenge one another.
Influenced by long-term study in yoga, meditation, and contemplative traditions, as well as sustained attention to nature and daily life, Vince’s work emphasizes presence, observation, and trust in process. He has taught yoga throughout New York City and studied meditation with monks in Queens, NY, experiences that continue to shape his approach to making and teaching.
In his collage classes at ArtLab, Vince encourages students to work intuitively and experimentally, using material as a way to explore composition, memory, and personal meaning. His teaching welcomes both beginners and returning artists, creating space for curiosity, play, and deeper engagement with one’s own visual language.
