Description

A class in relief printmaking for Adults.

Materials We Supply: 

• Inks we carry:
  (We use Caligo Safe Wash ink, which is oil based but easy clean up.)
  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Blue
  • Burnt Umber
  • Black
  • White
  • Extender
• Printing and Clean Up:
  • Wooden spoon
  • Barens
  • Hand press
  • Printmaking press
  • All clean-up materials.
  • Newsprint for proofing.

Materials to Purchase:

• Inks:
  • If you want a specific color other than the ones specified above.
  • If you prefer water based inks over oil, they would need to be purchased.
• Linoleum or Rubber Blocks:
  • Rubber is easier to carve, but doesn’t allow for much detail.
  • Battleship grey linoleum is the more traditional material and allows for more detail, but can be more difficult to carve than the rubber.

• Carving Tools:
  • For beginners, I recommend the small variety set from Speedball: https://www.dickblick.com/products/speedball-linoleum-cutter-sets-replacement-blades/
• Papers:
  • A variety of printmaking papers.
  • Richeson makes a decent set that comes in different sizes.
  • Heavier papers like Rives BFK and Stonehenge will work great with the press.
  • Japanese papers are thinner and great for hand printing.
