The subject matter will begin with simple set ups, still lifes and will progress to working from live models for the last 3 weeks. This is a 10-week crochet class for beginners who want to learn how to make with their hands in a steady and clear way. We will start at the very beginning… how to hold the hook, how to hold the yarn, how to form the first loop. Each week builds on the last so you are not overwhelmed, just practicing, repeating, and gaining control. You will learn the foundational stitches and understand how they actually work. You will make small projects such as a scarf, a granny square, and a mug cozy. You will learn how to read patterns so you are not dependent on a teacher once the course ends. By the end of ten weeks, you will be able to start and complete a project on your own.This is a space to learn a skill, build confidence, and leave with something you made yourself. Each week, students will be given a mini-assignment in the first half of class that focuses on an element of comic creation.
