Color painting from an Impressionist point of view:
Using oils or acrylic paint, this class will emphasize color theory from an impressionist point of view. The impressionists used fresh bright colors using the color wheel to mix opposite tones to get the desired effect, rather than using browns or blacks. Their colors are lively and bright and very tonal. We will work the aspects of painting- depth, space and form emphasizing complementary color mixtures.
Students can work with any images that they prefer, and the instructor will help each student get the desired effect that they want from their work. Students will learn composition and application of color principles in describing what each student wants to express in their painting.
While concentrating on Impressionist approaches, we will discuss traditional approaches as well. The class will look at master paintings and their approaches.
This class meets once a week for 8 weeks. (there will be no class Nov.12)

This is a 10-week crochet class for beginners who want to learn how to make with their hands in a steady and clear way. We will start at the very beginning… how to hold the hook, how to hold the yarn, how to form the first loop. Each week builds on the last so you are not overwhelmed, just practicing, repeating, and gaining control. You will learn the foundational stitches and understand how they actually work. You will make small projects such as a scarf, a granny square, and a mug cozy. You will learn how to read patterns so you are not dependent on a teacher once the course ends. By the end of ten weeks, you will be able to start and complete a project on your own.This is a space to learn a skill, build confidence, and leave with something you made yourself.
